The client was an avid sailor seeking to renovate a mid-century modern coastal California home with a contemporary design. The original 1950s design was respected while the building was substantially rebuilt in 2015, utilizing contemporary advancements in energy-efficient design and construction. The voluminous open loft floor plan maximizes openings for natural daylight and provides seamless connection between indoor and outdoor spaces. The architectural detailing was inspired by yacht design.
