MCARDLE design projects balance the demands of client goals, artistic endeavor, harmonious proportions, functional pragmatics, financial considerations, and environmental responsibility on the California Coast. Seán McArdle is involved in all aspects of the architectural and development business and provides a high level of personal management in all stages of a project including Architectural Design, Planning Approvals, Building Permits, Project Management, Construction/Development Management, and Marketing.

Seán is passionate about Contemporary Architectural Design while also being influenced by his European study of the history of architecture and the innovative work made by architects in their own respective centuries who shaped our current architectural consciousness and the collective built environment. To continue the knowledge and traditions of architecture, Seán founded an international education travel program Arts+Architecture [“A+A”]. The program recognizes the long-standing tradition and value of the physical experience of travel and drawing research as an integral part of a designer’s education.

ARCHITECTURE / EDUCATION

Seán McArdle's educational background includes Post Graduate Studies at the College of Environmental Design (CED) at the University of California, Berkeley in Architecture and Real Estate Design + Development (MRED+D) focused on cutting-edge design to build sustainable, equitable, and prosperous cities. Seán has a Master’s and a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture Design & Development Business. 

A transformative year in his architectural education was his participation in the Vicenza Institute of Architecture (VIA) Program based in Vicenza, Italy, a travel-intensive program that recognizes the importance of the physical experience of the latest innovations in architectural design and evaluating and understanding the historical, social, cultural and physical aspects of this particularly rich European urban context through design, research, and, documentation.

DESIGN / MAKING

In addition to architecture, Seán McArdle has pursued intensive post-graduate Fine Arts training in the classical methods of drawing and marble sculpture. Seán's passion is drawing inspiration from innovative work made by architects and artists which have enriched our built environment, artistic consciousness, and our collective future. Seán believes the exploration of tradition is the foundation of innovation. Entwining the values of the past with the modern world brings a masterpiece to life.

ARTS + ARCHITECTURE

Seán founded Arts + Architecture [A+A] an international education travel program focused on the allied arts of architecture, drawing, painting, and sculpture. This travel and studio intensive program recognizes the long-standing tradition and value of the physical experience of travel and drawing research as an integral part of a designer’s education. In short, we call it Drawing Inspiration.

The A+A program focuses on evaluating and understanding the historical, social, cultural, and physical aspects of this particularly rich urban European context through design, research, and, documentation. Field trips throughout Italy and Europe further enhance your educational experience.
